Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Interdisciplinary Committee on Applied Graduate Statistics (ICAGS) at the University of Alberta!

About Us

The Interdisciplinary Committee on Applied Graduate Statistics advances graduate education in quantitative methods used in the social and behavioral sciences by promoting interdisciplinary cooperation across departments.

Although departments at the University of Alberta have many knowledgeable faculty who can teach quantitative methods courses, smaller departments do not always have the resources to offer needed introductory methods courses and few have the enrollments to offer specialized courses in advanced methods.

In order to enable the best use of resources, the Interdisciplinary Committee on Applied Graduate Statistics brings together faculty from multiple departments and faculties to coordinate and promote graduate-level statistics courses and education. The Committee supports activities to expand professional development among students, increase faculty-student engagement, and create a shared knowledge space to the further promote quantitative methods.
